Lionfish hunting

Erin Cziraki and Zach Hart combined efforts to measure and sample the 594 lionfish we collected in Discovery Bay this year. I put together a compilation video of our underwater efforts. You can see the video on Youtube under Lionfish hunting in Jamaica. In addition to countless hours in the wet lab, Erin and Zach live caught 15 lionfish for a digestion study. Top harvester honors go to Steve Luff with almost 200 fish speared. Omar Spence of DBML collected the the largest fish, which measured 16.25" and 2.1 lb on the Dorm Shore dive site. Erin C live caught a 3.5 cm fish and I speared (smashed really) one that was 5 cm. More details are available from WMBF News coverage and an article in Coastal's Atheneum about this research.
